Sacred Grounds
I grew up going to Cheyenne Canyon for picnics for as long as I can remember. It was a time where everyone kept an eye on everyone's kids and we all played p and down the creek. I remember climbing up the creek with my cousin Jeff for hours , against the flow with the water often up to our knees. I don't know if I was just really little or if there was just more water then, but our legs would get so used to snowmelt frigidity that made up the creek, that when we would step out of the creek to dry off, the summer air was cold.
At any rate I tell this story because I recently had the opportunity to give a little something back to a place I treasure so very much. There is a little cafe and coffee shop that uses Mission Coffee Blends for the daily java, and they were in the market for a rebrand. I am honored that they liked the design I came up with, and as an added bonus, a portion of their profits gives back to Friends of Cheyenne Cañon, an organization that takes care of the park in amazing ways. I am so glad that in some small measure, I can give back to a place that shelters precious memories of childhood, of my innocence, and some of the adventurous spirit I carried with in my youth.
I am so very blessed.
